Global Sports Fraternity- Great Fodder for Sports Blogs

I have got to meet a lot of various people since becoming CEO of Bloguin. Even though its hard to work or partner with everyone I talk to, its still cool to meet technology and entrepreneurial minded people. One person that I’ve been really impressed by is Henry Lowenfels, owner of MayFly films who runs Global Sports Fraternity.

Henry’s been beyond diligent and patient with me in promoting the great videos Global Sports Fraternity produces like the one below. Norm Brooks Fantasy Addict: Global Sports Fraternity is a original video content producer with its content aimed at the Sports Blogosphere at large. Most of the videos I’ve seen have been pretty darn funny, but I’ve been really been wowed by the amount of original videos GSF produces. Below are the various characters within the Fraternity, all of whom which have a series of videos.

From a business standpoint, GSF’s strategy seems to be focused on distribution of their content as well as their branded video player which can be co branded for larger sports blogs.

At some point I would imagine GSF hopes to achieve enough scale and reach where they can sell sponorships into the videos. BrightRoll and ooyala might also be some options to monetize as well and maybe even Revision3.

Doing some work with The Basketball Jones and also closely following The Pantless Knights, its been pretty tough going trying to secure direct campaigns and sponsorships as agencies are looking for more enterprise partners it seems on the video front. That being said, the projections for online ad revenue for video seems to be more optimistic then social networking, search, and display, so I can definitely say that Henry (especially with his grassroots distribution efforts) and GSF are in a good position to capitalize on that projected migration of ad dollars.

GSF seems to be getting some solid traction within the sports blogosphere and is really cranking in terms of production quality and quantity. Most web video startups are facing a steep uphill climb in this economy, but GSF seems to have a very focused strategy/audience and seem to be on their way to be the comedic viral video channel of the sports blogosphere.
