Super Bowl Thoughts as Santonio Holmes Enters Pantheon of My Man Crushes

That Super Bowl was awesome. Not sure if it was the best ever as 1/3 of it was kind of dull. However imo, it had the best play in a Super Bowl ever (James Harrison 100 yard int TD), and the awesomest finish ever. I thought the commercials didn’t have that many standouts, but at the same token not that many stood out as being horrible like in years past. This one below was my favorite.

I was ecstatic that Santonio Holmes was the hero and MVP. I graduated from Ohio State in 2006 and had the joy of watching him be a huge play maker 2003-2005. Lots of my favorite memories as a student center around some of the joy he brought me in close games I attended. About 3 weeks ago, I interviewed for Bucknuts.com about the upcoming playoffs and he later reposted the article on his blog. Despite the fact that repair man barged in during the interview, it ended up being a great piece. Since then he has had a touchdown in all 3 Steelers playoff games and trust all of them were epic. Today’s grab culminated the great run for Santonio , capped with an MVP award and a trip to Disney Land.

Despite having a handful of big catches the playoffs called back on penalties, Holmes persevered to get a Super Bowl ring, MVP trophy, and most likely millions in an endorsements. While that’s very impressive, I also want to credit him for going public this week about something outside of football. In the media week blitz, Holmes let reporters in on a little secret of his past… Holmes as a youth dealt drugs before he started getting involved with football. It was a big admission and one that rubbed some people the wrong way. However his message was clear in that football and family helped him turn his life around and now he wants to pass along that message to other youths who come from similar tough circumstances.

I am happy to say I have now interviewed a Heisman winner, Cy Young winner, a NBA number one overall pick, and now a Super Bowl MVP. That’s not too shabby for a guy who does this one the side. Holmes congratulations. You are now on the Jewish Chinese Man Crush list along with the like of Michael Jordan, Judd Appatow, Jim from the Office, Sasha Baron Cohen, and many many others. It may not be as prestigous of an award as let’s say Super Bowl MVP, but I think its not far behind. Hopefully I get him on the phone soon again to talk about what this experience has been like. Hopefully a repair man does not come in unnanounced.
