4.2 Earthquake Hits California. Only Twitter and blogs can Confirm.

About half an hour ago I was helping (not really) getting my new roommate situated as he just moved here yesterday from Ohio (more on this later).

Suddenly I felt a small shaking, consistent of someone knocking into a wall pretty hard. It was a little akward but then about 10 seconds later I felt it again. I wondered if it was an earthquake.

I forgot about it but just now decided to Google it to find out more.

Unfortunately Google News had nothing to report. Being the Web 2.0 believer I am I then did a blog search and found this, a telling blog entry of the realization that an earthquake occurred which can only be confirmed via twitter. Interesting….

So after logging into my own twitter account, I was able to find out indeed that an earthquake occurred with good old Digg founder Kevin Rose leaving a tweet on it (screenshot below)

Its interesting to see social media beating traditional media to the punch on things like this…..
