RIP Iphone…Hello 3G

Today I say goodby to one of my closest friends. On June 29th, 2007 I had the honor of being an initial Iphone owners via a good friend who worked at an Apple Store. We got along great from the moment we met. My friend introduced us, showed us things we had in common and then let us get to know each others. For nearly 18 months you couldn’t seperate us. It made me cool for the first month I had it, and then made me cool again when I visited Ohio 5 months later. People were drawn to it, and hence took a liking to me.

I used it to send emails, texts, derogatory statements to my friends, and the cheesiest compliments to girls. I took photos for my blog, ignored calls from my parents, and wasted free time  watching Youtube. Its only thing in life that I bought that magically got cheaper. I spent $600 on it, the price went down and then they gave me $200 because other people were ashamed they paid that much. I wasn’t. I always said that if it died it would be a matter of hours until I bought a new one. Well this morning, it came to an end. The Genius Bar said you were officially done at 1:15pm and who was I to argue.

We’ve had some great memories together though. Interviewing Troy Smith, downloading sweet applications, watching my stocks go up and then plummet, checking the weather, finding out how to get from lost to the bar, waking me up everyday so I don’t lose my job, finding stuff online, and watching The Office or South Park on trips across country. You endured a lot and I am proud of how long you toughed it out. Being my phone is a rough life and I know life in my front pocket was not glamous. You were loyal, dependable, helpful, and most importantly a great wingman in all my bachelor needs. I’ll miss you dearly. Luckily in your wake is your younger protege which magically has pretty much everything you had (I backed you up last week). I kind of like it more actually. Somehow it cost less than you, has more memory, and performs better. Don’t feel jealous though…..I’ll always look back at our 17 month affair and think “man those were the days.” Never again will a whole state in the Midwest  be so awed by something that fits in my pocket and for that and so many other binds you helped me with I will always be thankful.
