Saw a handful of nice contenders for commercial of the week, but was really impressed with a nicely executed series of ads hyping NCAA Fotball 09’s pending release (tomorrow).
College football fans are the most passionate and crazed of all the major American sports. If you didn’t know that, that’s ok. If you disagree you are an idiot.
It is because of this that an abnormal % of older college sports fans play NCAA. It’s just another outlet to addiction that is college football.
The first commercial below cashes in on this fevered amount of anticipation for the upcoming season with the first real authentic taste of college football. Its visually compelling and exciting. I am sure fans of all fanbases will watch it all the way through regardless if they are gamer, just so they can get a just a virtual taste of the year to come and also make sure their team is featured in 1 highlight (too much love for Florida and Penn State in this one).
However there are also 2 other great commercials that do a TREMENDOUS harnessing interest from the internet community at large. One features Christian Lander, author of Stuff White People Like, talking about his love for the game. While most people wouldn’t be able to recognize him, his appearance is huge a eye catcher for the millions of people who do. The last commercial below is just ok, but gets love because it has a one second snippit of popular youtube superstar Bubb Rubb saying Woo Woo. Bub
