Here is a Nice Story Wrapped in Another Heartbreaking Economy Shell

So much to blog about with so little time. I have a new job as an interim consultant at somewhere really awesome. More on this later. Below is a video of someone else who has a new job. Why does he get his own video? Well, because he is 90 and he is a grocery store greeter down the peninsula. He and his wife ran their own business and retired 25 years ago. 4 months ago they had $700k in retirement and now they have zilch thanks to Bernie Madoff. If a white collar non violent criminal ever deserved capital punishment, I would have to think it would be this guy. Feel free to leave a comment if you agree or disagree. While its really sad to think someone living the home stretch of an accomplished life is now standing all day giving out coupons, there is a positive redeeming message in here. Ian Thiermann got screwed. He did nothing wrong and he lost everything, and everything was an awful lot. But even at the age of 90 he dusted himself off and with no bitterness from his financial fallout he went back to work and he went back to work with enthusiasm and determination. This is an out of character blog post for me but I really liked this story and hope many of you find a silver lining in it as well.
