My New Job and a Movie Recommendation

Today I started a new job over at Watercooler sports. I am doing some consulting working on some technology distribution projects, but its possible I could be there in a permanent role.

The office is right on Castro Street by the train station in Mountain View. Feels kind of cool the be from Mountain View and working at a really awesome startup in Mountain View. Too bad I live in San Bruno, although Caltran was quite pleasent compared to Bart. So what does Watercooler do? Watercooler makes social networking applications (Facebook, myspace, bebo, etc) for both television and sports. They also run TVloop.com. Their applications have 36 million users and my guess is that many of you are using them. If you have a popular tv show or a particular sports team facebook application, there is a good chance its one of Watercooler’s. Below is a recent interview of Watercooler’s CEO on Vator.tv.

I am really excited and honored to be working with a very succesful company and a great team. Part of my excitement is that although I am consulting for them, I myself will learn a lot about social networking applications, development, and monetization. This is now my 4th startup (one was an internship to be fair), and have to say despite the extra work and associated risks of being at one, its a work environment and culture that I am addicted to. You do and learn a lot more building a company then just being another brick in the wall at a larger company. For those of you curious about what its like to work at a startup, I really implore you to check out the documentary startup.com (same filmmakers as In the War Room). Its a great flick, and provides insight into the crazy world I and many others live in out here.
