I constantly find myself in disbelief over what seems to capture the American public’s attention. Less and less real news is being reported with more paparazzi/tabloid garbage gaining traction with mainstream media outlets.
With this in mind, I found myself giddy upon hearing from a friend that Ashton Kutcher would now be collaborating with pop culture moguls in an effort to punk the media in his new show “Pop Fiction” .

While Punked began to less some steam towards the end if its run (more likely people just got tired of Kutcher’s obnoxious commentary), this new premise is likely to be embraced by a similar audience as well as those who wouldn’t mind seeing one of America’s slimiest industries get knocked down a peg or two.
Sometimes it takes some good satire for Generation Y to become interested in certain topics. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report have helped increase awareness and interest in politics and hopefully a show like Pop Fiction can quell Generation Y’s interest in the tabloids. Probably unlikely but for me this will be feeding two birds with one hand (which is better then killing birds with one stone) as it a) showcases elaborate pranks that spark my imagination on how to pull off my own capers b) takes aim at an industry that repulses me.
