In an attempt to quell my disappointment with the OSU basketball team, I watched wrestling. No, not the kind with fireworks, costumes, and entrance music, but the real kind. Ohio State was in contention for a national championship and being a former a wrestler it was definitely worth a watch. In the end, they had a great showing finishing second (as we did in Volleyball, football x2, basketball, and soccer the last couple of years), but regardless I saw some pretty cool stuff. Let’s start with this.
Above is Anthony Robles. He got 4th place in his weight class. He is only a sophomore so he has 2 more chances at a National Championship which would be pretty crazy considering he has only one leg. I guess it allows you to have more mass for your weight class everywhere else and helps you be the lower guy, but seriously he doesn’t have a freaking leg. That’s incredible. Look again at the video above. Having a second leg would be pretty darn useful in a lot of those positions. Pretty bad ass. Then there was this drama below. The backstory is that the wrestler fomr Iowa is essentially unbeatable and was thought to be the best overall wrestler in the tournament regardless of weight class. As you can see he didn’t win and didn’t take too kind to the lack of sportsmanship by the guy who beat him.
