Some Unexpected QB’s Pushing Towards NFL Playoffs

I wrapped up my long weekend by watching some NFL football (shocker!).

What was interesting was looking at all the NFL teams poised to make the playoffs with some very unexpected signal callers at the helm. Below are 3 QB’s who did not start the year as their team’s starting QB but are now leading their division.

Kerry Collins, Gus Ferrotte, and Jeff Garcia

Contuining the trend is Kurt Warner who was embroiled in a QB competition but now finds himself in the NFL MVP race.

While a lot of those guys are pretty surprising, I think the real story is the turnarounds of the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens via rookie QB’s. I still think Troy Smith could have righted the ship in Baltimore if not for tonsillitis, but got to give love to Flacco and Matt Ryan for their stellar rookie campaigns.

There are still a lot of familiar names that will be playing in January (Big Ben, the Mannings, Favre, and Romo), but still the amount of suprises closing in on playoff berths is quite profound.
